The definition of “home” varies from person to person. Some might say that it is the actual roof and walls they live in, and others might say that the sound of water crashing down the shore is what they define “home.” But these definitions do not resemble what an army veteran thinks; books about war have a different perspective.
The Veteran’s Definition of “Home”
How a veteran defines home is entirely different than how a normal person thinks about it. The definition is simplistic, but one needs to put themselves in a veteran’s shoes to fully understand it. For a veteran, “home” often goes beyond just a physical location; it is a place of safety, belonging, community, and peace.
Opening The Silos of The Word “Home”
The definition stated above sounds extremely simple, right? Although it doesn’t seem like it, the definition is exponentially deep given someone who witnessed blood is saying it. Each aspect has a meaning, which is explained further.
Safety From All Kinds of Threats
This may involve an absence of gunfire and screams. It may also encompass a space in which someone feels relaxed and free of danger, both physically and psychologically. To say that it is to live and to not have to look behind.
Having a Sense of Belonging
Having a feeling that everyone treats you as a loved one is a small but priceless feeling. When people around you treat you the way you want to be treated, it can wipe away half of the trauma you have. This often disregarded trait is what keeps a society truly alive, including war escapers.
Being a Part Of a Welcoming Community
It’s a good feeling to be with people who think like you. Getting to know everyone around you helps you become a better person and what you always wanted, there is a greater power. A community will have a great life if they all listen to each other and see what each member says. We can say if everyone is friendly, life will make us see the truth.
Having Peace
The most important thing is to feel peaceful inside. It helps you make good choices, which in turn helps you lead a good life. Better things always come to people who wait, and who are also peaceful.
Serge R. Pospelov – The Soldier Who Escaped Russia
Now we get to the part of someone who made it all happen. It should come to your mind what his story entails. If you don’t know then I won’t tell you; all is yours to find out, go buy two books about war, “History Of Disease. Army,” and “History Of Disease. Escape 2,” by Serge R. Pospelov.
